Ron Garrigues just might have been the first hippie in the coffee business. He was himself, and that was different in a way that I did not think was allowed. Marcel S. Garrigues Company weighed, sampled and reconditioned coffee for Hills Bros. A long haired artist, Himalayan hiker, and committed non-conformist among a suit and tie, conservative, three martini lunch crowd. Trusted and liked by them all, I think. And a good example for an inexperienced hick just off the bus from Olympia, Washington, like me. Maybe your best move is just be who you are?

I'm a pornographer. I make dirty, filthy, violent, and sometimes disgusting movies for a living. It doesn't make me a bad guy. I'm a very respectful person with deviant tastes. You don't have to agree with my escapades to be my friend. You need only respect me as I will respect you. If you like getting slapped around while your asshole is stretched to the absolute limit, like choking on a cock til you pass out, like to be tied up while a bunch of people fuck in front of you and spray their fluids all over you, or just feel like you need someone to keep you in line, then I'm your man. On film or not I like it hard and filthy!!!
Coffee with Ron
The morning coffee. I'm not sure why I drink it. Maybe it's the ritual of the cup, the spoon, the hot water, the milk, and the little heap of brown grit, the way they come together to form a nail I can hang the day on. It's something to do between being asleep and being awake. Surely there's something better to do, though, than to drink a cup of instant coffee. Such as meditate? About what?
I usually order a tall brewed coffee at my neighborhood Starbucks. While I wait for my beverage, I hum along with the Muzak. Coffee and Christmas have come to China in a big way. Make that coffee, Christmas and capitalism. In my neighborhood alone I can choose from a half dozen coffee shops. I have a snapshot of workers erecting a Merry Christmas sign above the entry to our local mall. Of course, Christmas is not a government holiday so there is no time off from work. But that does not seem to impede the commercial possibilities. For me, Christmas is about traditions — family, friends, food and festivities- and, of course, there is the religious tradition as well.
